Sick as a Dog

It has been confirmed. I had the flu. What a fantastic way to spend a weekend.

But, if there is a silver lining, it was that my appreciation for Tessie deepened when she took on "Nurse Tessie" mode. For two days I could not get out of bed (or off the couch, rather) and she did not leave me for a second. She had physical contact with me at all times - whether she was sleeping next to or on top of me, she would not budge.

Here's an incredibly unflattering picture (thanks mom...) of photographic evidence:

Don't I look dead? Doesn't Tessie look worried? Isn't that KIND of amazingly adorable?

When she ate - which she didn't do that much - she would bring her puppy food from the kitchen into the living room by the mouthful, drop it on the floor next to me, and happily chew away while keeping an eye on me. When her Grandma tried to pick her up and hold her on the couch across the living room, Tessie broke free and returned to her perch.

Nurse Tessie is an amazing caregiver.

When I finally got up, Tessie was at my heels, biting at the leg of my fleece pants with excitement. The moment I showed signs of feeling better she expressed so much joy and relief that she immediately returned to her usual self.

Such an amazing dog.
